 The sixth edition of a national Quranic plan was launched in Iraq by the Astan (custodianship) of Al-Askari Shrine.

Haidar al-Mayahi, who is in charge of implementing the plan, said more than 100 students from different provinces of the country, have taken part in the plan’s classes, Qaaf news agency reported.


He said they take courses on memorization and recitation of the Quran as well as Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Islamic beliefs, ethics and Seerah of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

The courses are organized under the supervision of qualified experts from Iraq and other countries, he stated.

There are also programs and activities for the participants on the sidelines of the classes, including sports activities, religious programs and recreational programs, al-Mayahi noted.

Al-Askari Shrine, also known as Askariyya Mosque, is the resting place of the tenth and eleventh Shia Imams, Imam Hadi (AS) and Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS).

It is in the Iraqi city of Samarra 125 km north of Baghdad.

In other Quranic news from Iraq, a graduation ceremony was held in the holy city of Karbala for children learning the Quran at Baraim al-Zahra Quranic Center affiliated to the Quranic Affairs Center of the Astan of Imam Hussein (AS).

The Quranic Affairs Center has also organized a workshop to enhance the Quranic skills of female Quran teachers in Qom, Iran.

The workshop’s courses, taken by 28 in-person and more than 200 online participants, were taught by Lebanese expert Jamal Berri.
