IMAM REZA (A.S.) FROM THE VIEWS OF THE SUNNI SCHOLARS

Thoughts and viewpoints of Sunni Muslims about Imam Reza’s (A.S.) scientific character were elaborated in a session held to pave the way for more solidarity and proximity among Islamic schools. This gathering was held by Astan Quds Razavi’s Office of Non-Iranian Pilgrims.

According to Astan News, speaking at a specialized meeting held with the presence of pilgrims from African countries of Nigeria and Congo, Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Hadi Ghorban Yar, a religious experts of the Razavi Holy Shrine, elaborated Imam Reza’s (A.S.) character from the view point of Sunni Muslims and stated, “Imam Reza (A.S.) enjoys a very great spiritual and scientific position in the views of Sunni scholars. Imam Reza (A.S.) has also been called in Sunni Muslims’ book as God’s selected person and lord of virtuous people”.


Noting that many traditions and qualities of this great Imam (A.S.) have been narrated by Sunni scholars, he stated, “Narrations of this kind make it clear that Imam Reza (A.S.) has had a very notable position in the viewpoints of Sunni clergymen and scholars and this Imam (A.S.), like other members of the household of the Apostle of God (S.A.W.), is the best model for both Sunni and Shia Muslims in the world”.


Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Ghorban Yar emphasized, “With respect to the importance of debate and dialogue in interactions with the non-Muslim people, Imam Reza (A.S.) had lots of debates with intellectuals of various religions. These scientific encounters have been very influential in expanding Islam and as a result of which it is now seen that Razavi Shrine has changed into a central place for spreading Islamic teachings”.


He stressed, “Imam Reza’s (A.S.) character is so great and prominent that it makes salient and famous intellectuals from various religions to bow before Razavi Shrine. They also consider and introduce Razavi pilgrimage as a noble tradition and virtue. Also, Razavi Shrine is now a place for gathering scientists and scholars from different religions and Islamic sects”.
