Imam Ali (AS) said:

As if the world has ended, and has said its farewell, its good things have remained unknown, and it has turned its back and goes. It leads its residents to destruction, and takes its neighbours to death. Whatever sweet about the world has turned bitter, and whatever that was crystal clear, turned dark, and a bit is left at the bottom of the overturned water container. Or a bit of water which with it, the thirst of thirsty ones in the world cannot be quenched [1].
