In Islamic Duas and Duas which have been reported from infallibles (AS) asking for greater longevity is an element that is mentioned regularly.

For example Seyyed Ibn Tawoos narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) and Imam Kadhim (AS) who said: After each Salaat in the Month of Ramadhan, recite the following Dua: O’ Allah (SWT) grant us the opportunity of Hajj pilgrimage, and grant us greater longevity in the way of God’s servitude [1]. According to the Quranic teaching, whatever we do in this world will have an effect in the hereafter. So, if a person is granted greater longevity, and use this opportunity to serve God, will be in peace and comfort in the hereafter. Therefore, believers must use this world to reach a good status in the hereafter by good deeds, and greater longevity in this case is very valuable as mentioned in Ayahs 14 to 19 of Surah Al-A’alaa. This world is the only place to gather provisions for the hereafter as mentioned in Ayahs 197 and 201 of Surah Al-Baqarah, and Ayah.
