Imam Ali (AS) said:
The people will not be reformed unless the statesmen are reformed, and statesmen will not be reformed unless the people are righteous. And when the people observe the rights of the leadership and the statesman meet the rights of the people; the truth will be promoted and strengthened in that society. Then, the situation will be reformed, and the people will be hopeful of the ways of the religion, and the signs of the established justice, and the traditions of the Prophet (PBUH), and the enemies will lose hope in their wishes. But if the people overpower the government, or the ruler oppresses the people, unity will disappear, signs of oppression will appear, and there will be plenty of deceitfulness in religion, and the expansive path of the traditions of the Prophet (PBUH) will be abandoned, self-indulgence will flourish, religious decrees will be stopped, and there will be plenty of illnesses of the heart [1].
