The lofty position given by the Almighty Allah to Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
The Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran: {And if We had decreed upon them, “Kill yourselves” or “Leave your homes,” they would not have done it, except for a few of them. But if they had done what they were instructed, it would have been better for them and a firmer position [for them in faith]. And then We would have given them from Us a great reward. And We would have guided them to a straight path. And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger – those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions. That is [al-Fadl] the bounty from Allah, and sufficient is Allah as Knower.} (4:66-70).
The grandson of the Holy Prophet (Allah‘s prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household); Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) have embodied the meanings of these holy verses. As their destiny was to leave their homes to fight God’s enemy and become martyrs, and Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) followed the orders of the Almighty Allah, and only few men of his family and companions followed him, and at their forefront; Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
Aba al-Fadl (peace be upon him) did what he was ordered, acted according to his knowledge and therefore he gained a great reward, was guided to a straight path and joined those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous -as stated in the text of his Ziyarat narrated by Imam as-Sadeq (peace be upon him) – {And excellent are those as companions. That is [al-Fadl] the bounty from Allah, and sufficient is Allah as Knower.}
