A forum titled “The Prophet of Mercy” was organized by the Iranian Cultural Center in Uganda in cooperation with the African country’s national media and the Uganda Muslims Supreme Council.
According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the program was held with the participation of Morteza Mortazavi, Iranian ambassador to Uganda, Ali Bakhtiari, Iranian cultural attaché in the country, General Musa Ali, deputy of Uganda’s Prime Minister, deputy of Uganda’s Mufti, Prof. Kateregga, the Vice Chancellor of Kampala University, Hojat-ol-Islam Bokayi, head of Al-Mustafa Islamic College, head of the Salam TV channel as well as more than 200 university teachers, scholars, clerics and Muslim and Christian students.
Addressing the program, the Iranian ambassador, considered such forums as a good opportunity for investigating various aspects of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) life and teachings.
He stressed the necessity for following the Prophet (PBUH) as a role-model and acting upon his teachings.
The deputy of Uganda’s Mufti was another speaker at the program who described the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as a messenger of mercy and called everyone to follow the Nabawi teachings to strengthen unity and stop animosity in the world.
Ali Bakhtiari in his speech highlighted the verses of the Holy Quran that introduce the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as mercy not only for Muslims but for the whole world.
General Musa Ali also addressed the closing ceremony of the forum and stressed the need for unity among Muslims.
Nadhir Ahmad Suhail and Biaruhanga Aqiqi from Kampala University, Sulaiman Abdulaziz Nowaluz from Cavendish University, Rahmah Kagwa from the Islamic University of Uganda were among prominent figures who were received the “Prophet of Mercy Award” at the forum.
