Pilgrims Head to Karbala to Participate in Arafah Night Ceremonies

According to Iraq’s News Agency, tens of thousands of domestic and international pilgrims have been making their way since this morning (Thursday) toward the holy city of Karbala and the two sacred shrines of Imam Hussain and Abbas (A.S) to participate in the Arafah Night ceremonies.

As reported by Shafaqna citing this news agency, this comes as temperatures have reached their peak, making it very difficult to endure the intense heat during these days.

The report adds that pilgrims from various central, southern, and northern provinces of Iraq, as well as from other countries such as Iran, Pakistan, India, Lebanon, and others, are currently en route to Karbala to attend the ceremonies.

The News Agency stated that the holy shrines of Imam Hussain and Abbas (A.S) in Karbala have made the necessary preparations to welcome pilgrims for the day and night of Arafah. They have designated areas for pilgrims’ accommodation and deployed water-spraying vehicles on streets leading to the two shrines to help mitigate the extreme heat.

According to the report, electric vehicles have also been stationed on these streets to assist in transporting the elderly and the sick.
