Ceremonies and religious programs are being held in different parts of India to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (SA).
The programs began on January 20 in mosques, Husseinyahs (Shia religious centers) and cultural centers.
Thousands of devotees attend the mourning rites in different cities like New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Banaras, Kargil and Srinagar.
The programs include elegy recitations and speeches by Shia scholars and clerics.
The second most populous country in the world, India is home to around 10 percent of the world’s Muslim population.
There are around 200 million Muslims living in the South Asian country, including some 40 million Shias.
