Iranian Qaris and Tawasheeh groups forming a Quranic convoy named Noor (light) have started holding Quranic and religious programs for Arbaeen pilgrims in Iraq.
They recited the Quran and performed Tawasheeh (religious singing) in different religious sites and Moukebs (resting places with special facilities and services for pilgrims set up on roads leading to Karbala during the Arbaeen pilgrimage).
Yusef Qanbari, Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, Hamid Reza Ahmadivafa, Mohsen Rashidi and Mehdi Alamkhah were the Qaris who recited the Quran at the Moukebs as well as the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf and the Kufa Mosque.
Arbaeen comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).
Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.
In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world took part in the mourning ceremonies in the Iraqi holy city marking Arbaeen.
Arbaeen falls on Tuesday, October 30, this year.
