In the treaty of compliance with Malik Ashtar (RA), Imam Ali (AS) wrote:

At the time when you feel arrogance in yourself because of your high position, (immediately) remember the Divine Power which is over you, and see and beware of the power of God over you, and you do not have that power over yourself. It is due to this attention and outlook that takes away rebellion from you, and puts down the severity of your arrogance, and returns that faded/disappeared wisdom [1].
