Ceremonies were held in several cities in India on Sunday to celebrate the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS), the 6th Shia Imam.
Mosques and Husseiniyas (Shia religious centers) hosted the ceremonies in cities like New Delhi, Lucknow, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar, Kargil, and Mumbai.
They included recitations of eulogies in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
Also, speakers highlighted the character and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the role of Imam Sadiq (AS) in Islamic unity.
The 17th day of the month of Rabi al-Awwal in the lunar Hijri calendar (November 25 this year) is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month (November 20 this year) as the birthday of the last prophet.
