The holy city of Karbala, the capital of the Hussayni rituals and its holy shrines, was overwhelmed with grief and mourning for more than three days, as if it was living the Ashura days of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and that the month of Muharram has returned.
These are the days of the Fatimi sorrows season, which were concluded yesterday Friday, the third of Jumada al-Thaniyah.
The name (Little Ashura), which the people of the city of Karbala give to the Fatimi season of sorrows, did not come spontaneously or arbitrarily, but rather stems from a deep understanding of the calamity of Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her), and a full awareness of the close connection between this calamity and the tragedy of Karbala.
This relationship came in accordance with the ritual rules established by the hadiths and narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), so we find the mourning processions beating the drums of sadness and sorrow, the throats resounded with expressions of sympathy, the chests are beated and tears are shed while commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima az-Zahra (peace be upon her) at the vicinity of the shrine of her son (peace be upon him), expressing in their ritual practices the connection between the mother and son (peace be upon them) in the smallest details: such as killing children, breaking ribs, setting fire, beating and assault.
The past days have witnessed the third Fatimi mourning season, according to the narration that she (peace be upon her) passed away 95 days after the martyrdom of her father (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household). As large numbers of visitors flocked to the city and the processions of the Hussayni service spread on all the roads to be honored to provide their various services to the visitors. The two holy shrines have harnessed all their efforts to serve each of its guests, in addition to holding many activities and mourning events that are unparalleled except on the mourning days of Ashura and Safar.
The veneration of these Fatimi rites aims to explain the extent of the loss that befell humanity as a result of the oppression of az-Zahra (peace be upon her), and this is what her son Imam al-Hassan al-Mojtaba (peace be upon him) referred to in one of his sermons, saying: "God is between us and those who have wronged us our right, cut our necks, carried people on our shoulders, withheld our share in the Book of God from booty and spoils, and withheld our mother Fatima her inheritance from her father. We do not name anyone, but I swear by God the following oath, if the people had heard the words of God (the Mighty and Sublime) and His Messenger, the heavens would give them its drops, and the earth its blessings, and two swords would not differ in this nation, and they would eat it green until the Day of Resurrection”.
