A 30-year-old young man from Mauritius Island has converted to Islam at Imam Reza holy shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran, after expressing his words of testimony.
The newly converted Muslim, speaking at the ceremony, referred to 30 percent population of Muslim people in his homeland, saying: “I have been familiar with Muslims’ customs and rituals more and less since my childhood”.
He highlighted the effects of his personal research and study on his conversion and said: “Having lots of research and studies, I found Islam better and higher than other religions and I decided to choose it as my new religion”.
Hosting the ceremony, the Deputy Office for Foreign Pilgrims’ Affairs of Astan Quds Razavi offered a conversion certificate as well as some cultural gifts to the newly converted Muslim.
The Republic of Mauritius is an island located in the southernmost point of the Indian Ocean, east of the island of Madagascar and southeastern Africa. The island has got a population of more than 1 million people out of whom half are Hindus, 20% Christians and followers of other religions, and finally 30% are Muslims.
