Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine has once again observed a ritual arranged by Astan Quds Razavi’s Foreign Pilgrims’ Affairs Office, for a lady, this time from China, to convert to Islam.
Ms. Xang, the newly converted Muslim lady who preferred to be named Elham, said: “I grew up in Western China and I traveled and became acquainted with Islam through the Muslims living in this city. Then, in a trip I had two years ago during Arba’een to Iran, the kind behavior I received from Iranian people attracted me, and I became interested in knowing more about their religion, customs, culture and rituals.”
She pointed out that getting familiar with Muslim religious beliefs gave her a new perspective on morality, the purpose of creation and God, and that the mourning of the people for Imam Hussein (AS) inspired her to read about the Infallible Imams (AS).
On her first visit to Mashhad she said: “Today, when I attended the holy shrine of Imam Reza, the feeling of chastity and purity of heart was the only sensation I felt inside.”
Elsewhere, referring to the propaganda of some political trends toward Islam and Muslims, she called the increasing tendency to Islam, not only the reflection and the influence of this divine religion, but also its profound impact on non-Muslim minds.
“It is the Grace of God to guide humanity by individuals of their own as examples and rulers in order to guide humanity to gain maturity and spiritual perfection,” she remarked.
At the end of the ceremony, the newly converted Muslim lady received a few gifts including a volume of the Holy Quran, several books in Chinese language along with a prayer chador and a prayer rug.
