The Holy Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq, said it will hold different Quranic programs in the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Al-Kafeel website, Sheikh Javad al-Nasrawi, director of the center, said that due to the coronavirus pandemic the programs will be held online.
Tarteel recitation of the Quran at the holy shrine, “Maeda Thaqalayn” Quranic competition and Quranic educational programs for different groups of people which will be broadcast online as well as on different satellite channels are among the Ramadan programs of the Astan, he said.
Ramadan, which will begin later this week, is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.
They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
