Why overpraise must be avoided?

Some people came to the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and said:

Why overpraise must be avoided?

We think it is not enough just to greet you like other people, rather like other heads and elders we must pay respect to you by prostrating. Or it has been written that one of the Jewish people called “Abu Rafe’a” who was part of a group from Najran, came to meet the Prophet (PBUH) in Medina and said: If you want, we worship you and consider you as God. The Prophet (PBUH) prohibited unusual praising by some people and said: I seek refuge in God, I do not allow anyone except Allah (SWT) to be worshipped, and I have not been appointed for anything opposite this [1]. It is narrated from Abudhar/Abuzar (RA) who said: I saw Salman (RA) and Bilal (RA) who were coming toward the Prophet (PBUH), suddenly Salman (RA) fell on the feet of the Prophet and started kissing them. Prophet (PBUH) stopped him and then said: O’ Salman, do not behave the way some nations behave with their kings. I am a servant of God, and eat like a slave, and move among and engage with others like a slave [2].
