Why in Islam cutting ties with relatives is not allowed?

A person asked Imam Sadeq (AS):

Why in Islam cutting ties with relatives is not allowed?

Some of my relations have different thoughts and ideology to me. Do they have any right on me? Imam (AS) replied: Yes, nothing cuts the right of kinship; if they think like you and have the same ideology, they have two rights on you; one is the right of kinship and the second the right of Islam and being Muslim [1]. It is also narrated from Imam Ali (AS) who said: Have connection with your relatives and socialize with them, even if they cut ties with you [2].
