Pakistani Shias hold rally in Islamabad / Pics

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The annual rally of Pakistan’s Shia Muslims was held in the capital Islamabad on Monday. 

Thousands of Shias from different parts of the country attended the event. 



According to IRNA, it is annually organized on the anniversary of the assassination of Pakistani Shia leader Allama Syed Arif Hussain al-Hussaini. 

Arif Hussain Al Hussaini was assassinated in 1988. 

He was born on November 25, 1946 in a pious family of Parachinaar, Pakistan. At an early age he was very eager to learn the different dynamics of the society while sitting with elders and taking interest in their talks on a regular basis was common. He decided after completing matriculation to take admission in seminary of Jaffariya. 

After getting a gist of the religious discourse, he decided to leave for Iraq and further dig the well of knowledge and get benefited from it. In 1967, he reached Iraq and applied to seminary of Shabbiriah". 

While martyr Allama Arif ul Hussain Al Hussaini was studying in Najaf, Imam Khomeini (RA) was also living in Najaf in exile. Imam Khomeini (RA) then leads Maghribain prayers at the seminary of Ayatollah Broujardi and after prayers would deliver a lecture. The martyr listened to every lecture with complete concentration and after coming back from the lecture repeated what he learned to his fellow students in hostel where he lived with other students. He also encouraged them to attend the lectures by Imam Khomeini (RA). 

When he returned to Pakistan was elected as leader of Tehrik Nifaz Fiqah Jafaria and started removing discrepancies in the Pakistani nation's beliefs and promoting Islamic awakening. 

He was martyred on August 5, 1988, at the age of 42. 

After having prayed at a local mosque, he was confronted by two gunmen and shot. The attackers escaped but were later arrested. Hussaini died of his wounds while being transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
