Leaders and representatives of different faiths and religious communities in Great Britain denounced a new wave of extremist attacks against religions during an event held in London on Monday April 29.

According to Shafaqna, The gathering took place following the recent terrorist attacks on Muslims in New Zealand, Jews in the United States and Christians in Sri Lanka. The organizers of the event were Al-Khoei Foundation, the Church of England and the Oxford University. A wide range of clerics, politicians and envoys from some Islamic countries attended the get-together.Reverend Dr. Richard Sudworth who represented the Archbishop of Canterbury as well as Ms. Aliya Azam -an interfaith adviser to Al-Khoei Foundation- were the main speakers. They expressed solidarity with the victims of the terror attacks, as well as the injured and migrants. They also prayed for increasing unity among different faiths and an end to wars, violence and hatred all over the world.Later, representatives of Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus and Sikhs performed prayers for coexistence and peace. Two people whose brothers were killed by ISIS and another terrorist group in Iraq and Pakistan also made remarks in condemnation of terror and violence.Secretary General of the Al-Khoei Foundation Abdul Sahib Al-Khoei was the last speaker who concluded the event. After reciting verses of the holy Quran and reading Hadith, he called for defending the rights of the innocent, defenseless people in the world.UK Crown Prince Charles, Prime Minister Theresa May, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Westminster and the head of Catholic Church in Britain Vincent Gerard Nicholas and chairman of the Jewish Leadership Council of the UK Jonathan Goldstein were among those who in their messages to this gathering reiterated the necessity of inter-faith talks and world peace.
