Iran to host int’l conference on Imam Reza (AS), interfaith dialogue

 Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Amir Tabatabaee, representative of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) for the conference in his presser held on Monday announced that the first international conference on Imam Reza (AS) is scheduled to be held concurrent with 40th anniversary of Islamic Revolution in the northeastern city of Mashhad proposing the holy city to be called as world’s hub of interfaith dialogue.

He said the studies for the international conference on Imam Reza (AS) and interfaith dialogue have begun two years ago as part of the holy shrine trustee demanding all out efforts to be put in an event to convene religious leaders from across the globe. 

The cleric noted that seven summits have been planned to be held as prelude to the main event out of which two have already been held in India and Lebanon with the third upcoming meeting to be held in Russian in October. 

The remaining four summits have been scheduled to be held across Iran the first one to be hosted by Isfahan seminary next week as seminaries in Qom, Tehran and Yazd will hold the next meetings participated by representatives of religious minorities in the country. 

Iranian cleric added that the conference is named after the eighth Shia Imam as it aims to introduce Imam Reza (AS) as flag bearer of dialogue among monotheistic religions. 

He hoped that the event will make the onset for other interfaith meetings and boosting relationship between Islamic denominations. 

“We intend to propose Mashhad as the hub for interfaith dialogue in the world” said Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Amir Tabatabaee stressing that the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) has the capacity for the move. 

Iranian holy city of Mashhad is scheduled to host international conference on eighth Shia Imam and interfaith dialogue attended by religious elites and leaders from across the globe in a meeting on January 30th and 31st, 2019 concurrent with 40th anniversary of Islamic Revolution.
