Turkish president on Thursday commemorated the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Al-Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad who was killed at the Battle of Karbala.

In a series of Tweets, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: "Although it has been passed about 1379 years from the 10th of Muharram, 61, the day in which that massacre in Karbala occurred, our hearts are still full of regrets and burning for that."
