Haft Shahr-e-Eshq carpet
Among this collection's most beautiful carpets, representing the Iranian-Islamic culture and civilization is the Haft Shahr-e-Eshq carpet (meaning Seven cities of love) which mesmerizes the viewer with its unique images and designs. This carpet measures 370 x 460 cm and was woven with a Mihrab design in 1394 AH. It is decorated with images of Shia Muslims’ religious places in the seven cities of Mecca, Medina, Karbala, Najaf, Mashhad, Kazimin, and Samarra, as well as images of other religious buildings and places such as the Imam Mosque of Isfahan and the tombs of poets such as Saadi, Hafez, and Ferdowsi.
Around these seven images, angels with leaf-like patterns can be seen as if they are worshiping and praying in these places. This carpet was designed by Master Mahmoud Farshchian and woven and donated by Haj Mehdi Safdarzadeh Haghighi.
